A couple weeks ago I spent a lovely weekend in Glacier National Park with family. T’was lovely, especially an absolutely gorgeous hike up Sunrift Gorge.

Grant Teton Backcountry Skiing

This is a belated post with pictures from early February. I visiting some good friends from Dartmouth in Jackson Hole, and one day we went up to the Park to get some backcountry skiing in, on a mountain called 25 Short (because the elevation is 9,975 feet). While most of the time I was either too cold, too tired, or too used to low altitude to snap some pictures, I did take a couple.

On the top of 25 Short, about to ski down. A wonderful blue-bird day.

This is one of the Tetons or some big mountain by them. I forget exactly. Pretty sweet whatever it is.

Looking up the Elephant's Throat

I don’t get out climbing all that often, but when an opportunity presented itself to go climbing over in Vermont at the very beginning of finals week, I decided to put the books down and head out climbing. We went up a place called Elephant’s Throat up Smuggler’s Notch – pretty close to the Stowe Ski Resort. It was quite a bushwhack to get there through lots of snow, but the climb was worth it. Two pitches or gully ice and then we were at the top. A nice day to be outside.
